New Intelligent Fault Location Devices for Distribution Networks Enhance Repair Efficiency
Recently, intelligent fault location devices integrating edge computing and artificial intelligence algorithms have begun pilot applications in distribution networks across several provinces and cities. These devices can collect real-time transient signals of line current and voltage, and use built-in algorithms to accurately determine the section and location of grounding faults or short-circuit faults within milliseconds. They automatically send alerts and positioning information to maintenance personnel. This application reduces the traditional fault line inspection time, which typically takes several hours, to just minutes. It significantly improves power restoration speed and operational safety levels in complex distribution networks, particularly in rural power grids and coastal areas prone to weather-related impacts.
